Senior Automation Engineer (DevOps-Focused)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Automation Engineer with a strong DevOps focus to join a Brisbane-based digital transformation consultancy. The role centres on maintaining, optimising and extending existing automation and integration solutions while designing new workflows as needed. You will be responsible for the reliability, performance, security and continuous improvement of production-grade automation across diverse client environments.

Key responsibilities

• Own the ongoing maintenance, health, performance and reliability of automation solutions, integrations and supporting services.
• Monitor production environments, investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Design, build and enhance automation workflows using Workato or n8n.
• Implement production-ready logging, alerting, retry logic, auditability and operational documentation.
• Collaborate with technical leads and stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure and compliant solutions.
• Provide root-cause analysis and troubleshooting for APIs, middleware, authentication, webhooks, queues and data flows.

Required profile

• Mid-to-senior level experience in Automation Engineering, Systems Integration or DevOps Engineering.
• Hands-on experience supporting and optimising production automation rather than only greenfield projects.
• Strong communication skills, proactive problem-solving and ability to work independently within distributed teams.
• Commitment to delivering reliable, client-focused solutions and continuous improvement.
