Senior Audit Lead – Group Operations

About the role

The Senior Audit Lead – Group Operations will head complex, high‑risk audits across Retail, Business and Private Bank Operations. Reporting to the Audit Director, the role provides independent third‑line assurance on governance, risk management and control effectiveness, supporting ANZ’s 2030 ambition to be a leading audit function.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end audits of critical operations, third‑party risk and physical security, ensuring alignment with the Internal Audit plan.
• Manage audit delivery within agreed timelines and budgets, coordinating resources across value‑chain audit teams.
• Contribute to annual audit planning by identifying emerging risks and assurance coverage priorities.
• Apply Internal Audit methodology, GAIS and non‑financial risk frameworks to assess control effectiveness and operational resilience.
• Escalate significant findings promptly and support a strong speak‑up culture.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in internal audit within banking or financial services, preferably covering retail and corporate operations.
• Proven ability to manage complex, high‑risk audit engagements and lead audit teams.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on risk identification and mitigation.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with senior business stakeholders.
