Senior Associate – Tax (Transactional)

About the role

Allens is seeking a Senior Associate to join its national Tax team in Sydney. You will work on complex tax advisory and dispute matters for leading Australian and global companies, collaborating closely with partners and other practice groups.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tax advisory services to help clients achieve commercial objectives, including transfer pricing and other complex issues.
• Manage tax disputes, from ATO engagement and private or class rulings to alternative dispute resolution and litigation.
• Deliver technically sound, commercially informed advice on tax aspects of transactions across sectors such as technology and energy.
• Collaborate with Corporate M&A, Banking & Finance, Investment Funds, Real Estate, and Dispute Resolution teams to provide integrated solutions.
• Engage with the tax bar for expert opinions and support clients through ATO reviews, audits, and strategic risk mitigation.

Required profile

• Significant experience in tax law, preferably at a large law firm with a specialist tax practice.
• Background in advisory, transactional work and/or tax controversy (audits, objections, litigation).
• Proven ability to work independently, manage smaller matters and contribute to larger projects.
• Strong client exposure and the capacity to provide autonomous advice.
• Motivation to learn, grow, mentor colleagues and develop a professional network.
