Senior Android Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join Motorola Solutions’ Melbourne Design Centre. You will help build and evolve a public‑safety platform using Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform, delivering secure, high‑quality mobile experiences for first‑responders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain and support core Android applications and cross‑platform components.
• Participate in code reviews, ensure high test coverage and continuously refactor to reduce technical debt.
• Apply defense‑in‑depth principles to create highly secure applications.
• Architect solutions across multiple technologies, keeping code extensible and maintainable.
• Automate tooling, manage CI/CD pipelines and contribute to configuration management.
• Monitor services, respond to incidents and take part in post‑incident reviews.
• Promote a learning culture through workshops, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing Android applications with Kotlin (and Kotlin Multiplatform is a plus).
• Strong grasp of OOP concepts, design patterns and software architecture.
• Familiarity with reactive and functional programming paradigms.
• Hands‑on experience with automated testing (unit, integration, UI, performance) and test‑driven development.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, Git and Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environments.
