Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will join THE PIONEERS LODGE LIMITED in Griffith, NSW, to lead day‑to‑day accounting operations within a hospital environment. This full‑time, on‑site position supports financial integrity and strategic decision‑making for the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and oversee accounts payable and receivable.
• Perform bank reconciliations, cash‑flow monitoring, and month‑end / year‑end close processes.
• Prepare accurate financial statements and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, healthcare regulations, and tax requirements.
• Prepare and review tax documentation, assist internal and external auditors, and implement internal controls.
• Provide financial analysis, cost‑optimization advice, and clear reporting for management.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and drive improvements to accounting systems and procedures.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in financial accounting, general ledger management, and month‑end close.
• Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and cash‑flow management.
• Knowledge of accounting standards, tax regulations, and compliance in the healthcare or not‑for‑profit sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CA highly desirable.
• Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting is an advantage.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
