Senior Accountant - Finance Operations

About the role

A growing financial services business is recruiting a Senior Accountant for its Sydney team, working in a hybrid setup. The role reports directly to senior leadership and covers the day-to-day finance function across two businesses in the group, including funding, cashflow management, commercial reporting and process improvement. It suits an ambitious accountant who wants to move beyond traditional financial reporting into an operationally focused position, with the chance to grow into a Senior Manager position over the next 24 months.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day finance activities across two businesses in the group
• Oversee funding, settlements, drawdowns and related finance operations
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial reporting and performance analysis
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and ensure strong financial controls
• Partner with stakeholders to support operational and financial outcomes
• Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and reporting
• Support audit, compliance and statutory reporting
• Help build additional finance capability as the business expands

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualified (or near completion)
• 4-8 years' experience in audit, business services or a commercial accounting environment
• Proactive, hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in finance operations
• Eager to learn and progress within a growing organisation
• Financial services, lending or banking exposure is advantageous but not essential

Required skills

• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills
• Experience preparing management accounts and financial analysis
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement

The advertised salary is AU$110,000 - AU$140,000 per year, full-time, based in Sydney CBD. Applications are made through the recruiter.
