Senior Accountant, Business Services

About the role

BDO, a global professional services firm, is looking for an Accountant or Senior Accountant to join its Business Services team in Sydney. The role provides professional accounting services to a diverse range of clients, from family-owned businesses to large global entities, with exposure to many clients across a broad range of industries.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements in line with regulatory, accounting and financial reporting standards
• Prepare clear and concise work papers
• Supervise junior staff on certain jobs, as appropriate
• Perform tax planning for clients and prepare tax returns (income tax, FBT, Business Activity Statements)
• Handle quarterly and annual tax compliance matters
• Prepare management accounts
• Advise clients on business operations and regulatory matters
• General business administration

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification, or partly completed
• At least 2 years of Business Services or Tax experience, ideally from a mid-sized firm
• Client-focused, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Analytical and problem-solving ability, able to multitask and manage workflow
• Self-motivated, with attention to detail and a proactive approach

• Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
• Xero (desired)
