Senior Accountant – 4-Day Week, Newcastle

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to lead the Australian finance function of a global organisation based in Newcastle. Reporting to the UK Head of Finance and working closely with the local Managing Director, you will own end‑to‑end accounting processes and support the business as it expands.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full finance cycle, including accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, journals, accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Own the month‑end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare BAS workpapers, GST reconciliations and tax schedules for external advisors.
• Handle revenue recognition and maintain supporting schedules in line with accounting standards.
• Perform bank, supplier, customer and payroll reconciliations.
• Support year‑end audit requirements and respond to finance queries from management.
• Maintain strong financial controls and identify process improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with local and international stakeholders to drive growth.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification (or nearing completion), preferably from a Business Services background.
• Extensive experience across the full finance function, including transactional accounting and month‑end reporting.
• Hands‑on experience processing accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
• Proven ability to prepare management accounts, reconciliations, BAS workpapers and GST reporting.
• Strong organisational, communication and detail‑oriented skills.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience using Xero accounting software.
