Security Officer – Brisbane Campus (Banyo)

About the role

We are looking for a Security Officer to join the security team at a leading Australian university campus in Banyo, Brisbane. This permanent, full‑time position works Monday‑Friday, 13:30‑22:30, providing a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct foot patrols across campus facilities and maintain a visible security presence.
• Respond to incidents, alarms and assistance requests in real time.
• Enforce university and ACESGroup policies, safety procedures and WH&S standards.
• Liaise with students, staff, visitors and contractors, escalating complaints and emergencies according to the ACU escalation procedure.
• Maintain accurate logs, incident reports and communicate with site supervisors, emergency services and security operation teams.
• Support critical incident and emergency responses, coordinating on‑ground personnel and information flow.
• Provide mail‑room services, manage traffic and car‑park operations, and act as a warden under the ACU Emergency Management Plans.

Required profile

• Unarmed Guard and Crowd Controller qualification.
• Valid Queensland Security Licence.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to swim for pool‑related emergencies.
• Familiarity with radio and communication systems.
• Calm under pressure with quick decision‑making abilities.
• Basic computer literacy and report‑writing skills.
• Understanding of WH&S and risk management.
