Security Engineer – Incident Response (SIRT)

About the role

Amazon is seeking a Security Engineer to join its high‑energy Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) in Sydney. In this role you will analyse security events, investigate threats and intrusion attempts, and help protect Amazon’s highly sensitive data and e‑commerce platform.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to security incidents and coordinate a unified response across multiple Amazon teams.
• Provide engineering solutions during customer‑facing incidents and design preventative measures.
• Develop pragmatic security solutions that balance business needs with risk tolerance.
• Identify and recommend enhancements to Amazon’s incident‑response capabilities.
• Stay current on emerging security trends, advisories and publications, and drive appropriate actions.
• Participate in a follow‑the‑sun on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Strong technical background with hands‑on experience in security incident handling.
• Ability to perform root‑cause analysis and communicate findings clearly.
• Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement of security posture.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with other security engineers and cross‑functional teams.
