About the role

Newman Catholic College, the newest secondary school of the Catholic Education Diocese of Cairns, is recruiting several experienced and dedicated Secondary Teachers for the 2027 school year. The college is located within James Cook University in Cairns and offers full-time, permanent positions starting 18 January 2027. The advertised subject areas are Mathematics (teaching Senior Mathematics an advantage), English / Drama (teaching Senior English an advantage), Science and HPE.

Required profile

• Knowledge of and commitment to the Catholic ethos and vision of the school, including its liturgical life
• Ability to work as a member of a professional teaching team in partnership with families, the parish, the university and the wider community
• Understanding of contemporary pedagogy and the ability to differentiate learning for a diverse range of students
• Willingness to develop instructional strategies to improve student outcomes
• Teachers are accountable to and directed by the College Principal
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the Queensland College of Teachers
• Full support of the ethos of Catholic Education and commitment to a child-safe organisation

• Graduate to lead teacher salary of $86,600 to $147,048 FTE gross per annum plus 12.75% superannuation
