Secondary School Teacher (Full‑time)

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site position starts in January 2027 at St Patrick’s College Mackay. The teacher will design and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons for secondary students, assess learning, and provide timely feedback to support progress.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons for Years 7‑12.
• Assess student learning, provide timely feedback and use data to inform instruction.
• Plan and prepare learning materials and implement differentiated teaching strategies.
• Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive, positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with colleagues, communicate with families and the wider community.
• Participate in professional learning, school events and co‑curricular activities.
• Integrate Catholic values into teaching and support the holistic development of students.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary teaching qualification and registration (or eligibility) with the Queensland College of Teachers.
• Subject knowledge and teaching capability in at least one of the listed areas (e.g., Industrial Technology, Digital Technology, Religious Education, English, Humanities, Mathematics, Science, HPE).
• Strong lesson‑planning skills and ability to design differentiated, engaging learning experiences.
• Understanding of curriculum, assessment and strategies to monitor and support student progress.
• Clear professional communication and collaborative skills with students, colleagues, families and the community.
• Commitment to Catholic education, the mission of the Diocese of Rockhampton and the ethos of St Patrick’s College.
• Experience in classroom management, student assessment and data‑driven teaching.
• Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment and a desire to serve the local community.
