About the role

John Tonkin College is seeking a permanent full‑time Science Teacher to join its Science Learning Area from Term 1, 2027. The role focuses on delivering engaging marine and environmental science programmes that connect students to real‑world contexts through fieldwork and sustainability projects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver curriculum for secondary science, emphasizing marine and environmental topics.
• Facilitate hands‑on investigations, field trips, and partnerships with local environmental organisations.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback aligned with state standards.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and support early‑career teachers.

Required profile

• Relevant teaching qualification and registration with the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).
• Interest in outdoor learning, fieldwork, and sustainability initiatives.
• Desirable experience teaching ATAR courses.
