Scholar Engagement Consultant (Short‑term Adviser)

About the role

The Scholar Engagement Consultant will design and deliver up to two inclusive, culturally appropriate workshops for Papua New Guinea (PNG) scholars studying in Australia. This short‑term advisory assignment (up to 40 days) runs until 30 May 2027 and aims to strengthen leadership, professional networking, wellbeing and scholars' contribution to PNG development priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a needs assessment and review existing support programmes for PNG scholars.
• Develop culturally appropriate workshop curricula and resources that embed GEDSI, safeguarding and accessibility considerations.
• Facilitate up to two learner‑centred workshops across Australia.
• Consult and collaborate with scholars, Australia Awards PNG, DFAT and other stakeholders.
• Evaluate workshop outcomes, prepare reports, lessons learned and recommendations.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in education, human‑resource development, international development or a related field.
• Proven experience designing and facilitating adult professional‑development workshops.
• Strong stakeholder‑engagement skills with scholars, institutions and government agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate GEDSI principles into learning activities.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Willingness and availability to travel domestically within Australia.
