Rostering Officer - Major Events

About the role

MSS Security, one of Australia's leading security companies, is seeking an experienced Rostering Officer for its Major Events team. This is an initial 3-month position created to support increased operational demand across summer major events and a new events contract. You will work closely with the Major Events team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment where accuracy, responsiveness and strong rostering capability are critical.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage large-scale rostering for major events and event-based contracts
• Support resourcing for summer major events and the new contract
• Maintain and update rosters in Rolecall (or an equivalent system)
• Monitor coverage for leave, vacancies and unplanned absences
• Liaise with Operations and Major Events stakeholders to meet staffing requirements
• Help optimise rosters to balance service delivery and cost efficiency
• Assist with reporting on overtime, roster variances and coverage gaps
• Keep staffing data accurate, including licence and training compliance
• Ensure continuity of service during high-volume, time-critical periods
• Work additional hours, including potentially on weekends

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience rostering large staffing groups, with short-notice changes
• Strong understanding of workforce coordination and resourcing
• Full Australian working rights
• Desirable: experience supporting major events or high-volume operations, and experience in security, events, facilities or similar service-based industries

Required skills

• Experience using rostering systems such as Rolecall or similar
• High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
• Desirable: understanding of operational cost drivers such as overtime, leave and coverage optimisation
