Ropes Access Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Rope Access Technician to join our slope stabilisation team at Pointe Engineering. The role involves performing limited‑access geotechnical drilling and ground improvement work on steep slopes and remote sites using rope access techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rope‑access drilling, grouting and slope stabilisation on steep or confined sites.
• Operate excavator‑mounted drill rigs, a‑frame skids and related equipment.
• Mix and place grout, install micropiles, catch fences and gabion cages.
• Perform shotcrete placement, steel fixing, tension mesh installation and other geotechnical tasks.
• Maintain accurate daily logs, safety compliance paperwork and reporting.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in challenging environments.
• Confident working on ropes, slopes and rugged terrain.
• Team player with a proactive attitude.
• Hold a valid White Card, Work at Heights certification, National Police Clearance and Australian driver’s licence.
• Pass pre‑employment medical and drug screening.

Required skills

• IRATA Level 1 (minimum 500 hrs); Level 2/3 strongly desirable.
• Experience with drilling, off‑siding, excavator‑mounted drill rigs and a‑frame skids (TH & DH knowledge).
• Micropile and catch‑fence installation experience.
• Grout mixing and shotcrete placement.
• Geotechnical work such as scaling, steel fixing, tension mesh and gabion cage installation.
• Trade tickets in drilling, excavator operation, telehandler, EWP > 11 m, MR licence or concreting (highly regarded).
• Basic computer skills for reporting and safety documentation.
