Rooms Controller – Front Office

About the role

Join the Front Office team at Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour as a Rooms Controller. Reporting to the Front Office Manager, you will manage room inventory and allocations, ensuring guests receive the right rooms at the right time.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily room inventory, including VIP, group and queue allocations.
• Coordinate allocations to match guest preferences, VIP requirements and operational priorities.
• Monitor room availability and work closely with Housekeeping and Engineering to maximise readiness.
• Communicate with Sales, Guest Services, Housekeeping, Engineering and Front Office to ensure accurate room assignments.
• Contact guests when queue rooms become available and handle post‑arrival welcome calls.
• Update guest profile notes and respond to enquiries, billing queries and feedback.
• Maintain strict security and confidentiality of guest information.

Required profile

• Previous Front Office, Rooms Division or hotel operations experience, preferably in a luxury hotel.
• Strong knowledge of hotel room inventory, allocations and Front Office processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills across departments.
• Calm and focused during high occupancy and peak arrival periods.
• Commitment to guest privacy, confidentiality and hotel security procedures.
