Risk Assurance Manager

About the role

As Risk Assurance Manager, you will lead the day‑to‑day implementation of Capricorn’s risk and compliance strategy and frameworks. Providing independent Line 2 oversight and constructive challenge, you will help ensure risk supports sound commercial decision‑making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee Capricorn’s risk profile against Board‑approved appetite and tolerance.
• Lead risk and compliance assurance reviews and monitor regulatory change.
• Provide practical advice on new initiatives, incidents and systemic improvement opportunities.
• Prepare concise Board and executive reporting highlighting key insights.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, operational risk colleagues, internal audit and external partners to strengthen risk management practices.
• Improve operational processes and systems and build risk maturity across the organisation.

Required profile

• 10+ years’ hands‑on enterprise risk, compliance or regulatory risk experience, preferably in a large, complex organisation or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of risk frameworks, operational risk practices and the three‑lines of accountability model.
• Proven ability to identify, quantify and raise business risks and areas of non‑compliance.
• Experience leading risk and compliance assurance reviews and translating findings into actionable improvement priorities.
• Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify legal, regulatory and policy requirements.
• Demonstrated capability to influence stakeholders, provide constructive challenge and maintain effective business partnerships.

Required skills

• Experience with governance, risk and compliance systems.
• Experience working with third‑party risk system vendors and supporting system improvement.
• Exposure to business continuity management or corporate insurance activities.
• Membership of a relevant industry body.
