Residential Process Technician (Gold Processing)

About the role

Northern Star's KCGM Fimiston operation is looking for an experienced residential Process Technician to join its Processing Operations team during the plant expansion. Reporting to the Processing Supervisor, you will run all sections of the plant (Crushing, Grinding, Gravity Separation, Floatation, Leaching, Elution and Paste Plant) to optimise gold production and recovery, and carry out basic maintenance of equipment. The roster is 7 days on, 7 days off, 12-hour shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the processing plant according to specified parameters and maintain and sample large-scale equipment across shifts
• Follow daily instructions from the crew leader and liaise with maintenance to keep operations safe and efficient
• Carry out operational checks, report anomalies and take part in continuous improvement
• Identify and rectify risks from industrial equipment, chemicals, cold, heat, dust, noise, confined spaces and heights
• Manage activities so they prevent pollution and minimise environmental damage

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience at a processing plant in the mining industry
• Sound knowledge of gold processing and ability to work unsupervised
• Team player with strong communication skills, keen to learn and able to train others
• Current C-class WA driver licence and a white card (construction card)
• Eligibility includes medical, drug and alcohol screening, right to work and a valid Australian national police clearance

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy: Microsoft Office and Excel
• Desirable: High-risk work licence (working at heights, confined space, gas tester), forklift licence, dogging, rigging and EWP licence
