Research Nurse – Clinical Trial

About the role

The PERTH (Plastic Exposure Reduction Transforms Health) Trial at the University of Western Australia Medical School is a world‑leading interventional study investigating the impact of plastic‑associated chemicals on human health. As a Research Nurse you will support the Clinical Trial Coordinator in delivering the trial protocol, working closely with doctors and research dietitians to recruit and care for participants.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Clinical Trial Coordinator with organisation and implementation of the PERTH trial protocol.
• Recruit, retain and monitor trial participants, ensuring their welfare throughout the study.
• Perform patient procedures including ECG, phlebotomy, and administration of questionnaires.
• Educate participants on specimen collection procedures and support them in follow‑up visits.
• Collect, label and manage study data and biological specimens in accordance with Good Clinical Practice.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
• Current Nursing Registration with AHPRA.
• Experience performing phlebotomy and ECG at an appropriate level.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles.
• Ability to work independently, show initiative, solve problems and collaborate effectively within a team.
• Eligibility to work in Australia and willingness to undertake after‑hours work if required.

• Base salary $95,231 – $100,643 per annum (pro‑rata) plus 17 % superannuation.
