Research Assistant – Immunology Division

About the role

WeHI, Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute, is looking for a Research Assistant to join its Immunology Division. The role provides technical and operational support to drive high-quality research and maximise laboratory productivity, working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team on studies about how immune responses are shaped by immunotherapy and environmental stressors.

Required profile

• BSc with Honours in an appropriate area of study, or relevant experience.
• Demonstrated laboratory research experience of at least 1 year.
• Good communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work reliably within a team.
• Willingness to take direction and have progress reviewed where required.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills and accurate recording of data, results and new methods.
• Project management, oral and written communication and reporting.
• Desirable: animal handling and procedural work, including dosing, injections (IP, IV, SC), physiological monitoring and tissue collection.
• Desirable: cellular, molecular and metabolic analysis, including flow cytometry, cell sorting, molecular biology assays and mammalian cell culture.
• Desirable: analysis of biological datasets with FlowJo, OMIQ, GraphPad Prism, R and Microsoft Excel.

What we offer

• 2-year full-time appointment at Research Support Employee Level 5, with salary of $84,479 - $97,036.
