Reliability Engineer – Shovel Fleet

About the role

The Reliability Engineer (Shovel Fleet) will be the focal point for equipment reliability of Newmont's critical Caterpillar shovel fleet at the Boddington mine. Working within the Asset Management Mobile Maintenance team, you will drive improvements in availability, lifecycle performance and cost efficiency for a key production asset.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse reliability performance of the shovel fleet, identifying risks and improvement opportunities.
• Lead defect elimination initiatives to reduce recurring equipment failures and production losses.
• Analyse downtime events, SAP maintenance history and performance data to determine root causes.
• Facilitate Root Cause Analysis investigations and implement reliability improvement programs.
• Develop, review and optimise preventative and RCM‑based maintenance strategies.
• Support condition monitoring, component health management and lifecycle asset management activities.
• Produce reliability reports, fleet performance dashboards and KPI analysis for stakeholders.
• Develop lifecycle cost models and assist capital planning for major fleet assets.
• Coach and mentor maintenance and operations personnel in reliability best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience in reliability engineering within a mining or heavy‑equipment environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret maintenance data and drive data‑based decisions.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with maintenance, operations and technical teams.
• Ability to lead RCA investigations and implement corrective actions.
