Rehabilitation Case Management Team Leader

About the role

A well-established Australian Government organisation based in Canberra, operating under the Comcare scheme, is looking for an experienced rehabilitation professional to lead a small team. Reporting to senior management, the role combines leadership of rehabilitation case management with a direct line of advice to managers and Senior Executive staff, and contributes to wellbeing initiatives focused on prevention.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small team of rehabilitation professionals in a collaborative, supportive environment, including assurance processes.
• Deliver leading practice rehabilitation case management (compensation and non-compensation) within employment and legislative frameworks.
• Contribute to the development and rollout of tailored wellbeing initiatives, resources and strategies.
• Liaise with managers and staff at all levels to assess and resolve health-related matters.
• Prepare sensitive and complex written material and presentations, including reports, briefs and policies.
• Provide strategic advice to managers and Senior Executive staff.

Required profile

• Significant technical expertise in complex case management, including within the Comcare scheme.
• Thorough understanding of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.
• Experience managing teams, assurance processes and wellbeing initiatives.
• Experience preparing employer submissions for external review and appeal proceedings.
• Ability to work to tight timeframes, juggle competing priorities and keep the person at the centre of the case.

• Sound judgement and risk management skills.

What we offer

• Salary of $130k - 148k plus superannuation.
• 12-month non-ongoing opportunity, with the possibility of an S26 transfer.
