About the role

Macquarie University Health is seeking Scrub/Scout Registered Nurses with recent peri‑operative theatre experience to join the Peri‑operative Services team. You will work across General Surgery, Gynaecology and Plastics lists, providing safe, high‑quality intra‑operative care.

Key responsibilities

Prepare the operating theatre, maintain aseptic technique and manage instruments, implants, sutures and consumables for each procedure.
Perform safety checks (time‑out, counts, specimen handling) and accurate documentation while communicating effectively with surgeons, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary team.

Required profile

Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with recent Scrub/Scout experience or a strong theatre background and willingness to up‑skill.
Strong organisational, multitasking and independent clinical judgement abilities in a fast‑paced peri‑operative environment.

Required skills

Proficiency with electronic medical records systems.
Advanced use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with instrumentation/preference card systems.
