About the role
Land Life restores degraded land at scale, combining ecological expertise, science and in-house technology to deliver certified carbon removal. Its Australian focus is large-scale native reforestation on degraded agricultural land. As Reforestation Project Manager, you will plan, implement and maintain planting projects across Australia, acting as the expert for your assigned sites and spending significant time in the field with contractors, landowners and technical partners.
Key responsibilities
- Manage projects from start to finish: develop annual work plans and oversee the full lifecycle, from site assessment and design through planting, maintenance, monitoring and reporting, keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate on-site activities such as seed collection, nursery operations, site preparation, planting, post-planting maintenance and remediation, and conduct regular site visits.
- Develop technical planting plans using field data and GIS tools such as QGIS, assessing site conditions, environmental constraints and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and review contractor agreements, obtain quotations, negotiate costs and monitor supplier performance.
- Work with landowners, contractors and suppliers, supporting the Partnerships team with technical expertise during site assessments and landowner visits.
- Collaborate with Operations and Monitoring colleagues to assess planting performance, including germination, species survival and biomass monitoring.
- Maintain quality, work health and safety and environmental compliance, and drive continuous improvement.
Required profile
- At least 5 years of experience managing nature restoration, forestry, reforestation or similar environmental projects, ideally large-scale in Australia.
- A tertiary qualification in ecology, forestry, natural resource management or a related field, or equivalent extensive professional experience.
- Strong practical knowledge of Australian ecosystems, native vegetation and restoration techniques.
- Experience managing contractors, project budgets, timelines and multiple stakeholders.
- Understanding of environmental regulations, site safety and quality requirements.
- Current driver's license and willingness to travel regularly; up to 50% of time may be spent in the field during peak periods.
Required skills
- High-level GIS proficiency, including spatial data collection, analysis and mapping, ideally with QGIS.
- Project management and stakeholder coordination.
