Range Operator – Bindoon Training Area

About the role

Ventia is seeking a Range Operator to support the safe and efficient operation of the Bindoon Training Area for Australia’s Defence Community. The role involves preparing live‑fire ranges, maintaining target systems and contributing to health, safety and environmental initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and present ranges ready for customer operations.
• Maintain and operate live‑fire target systems at peak performance.
• Conduct HSE inspections and support land‑management activities.
• Participate in bushfire response efforts to protect people, property and the environment.
• Manufacture, repair and service training targets while ensuring compliance with Range Standing Orders.

Required profile

• Experience in grounds, land management or Defence‑related roles (advantageous).
• Bush‑fire fighting qualifications and First Aid certification (advantageous).
• Basic computer proficiency (MS Office).
• Ability to use tools and equipment for range operations.
• Competence in map reading and vehicle‑based navigation.
• Willingness to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Australian citizenship required).

What we offer

• $30.00 – $33.43 per hour (commensurate with experience) plus applicable allowances.
• Work‑use vehicle and pool vehicle on site.
• Monday‑Friday schedule 8:00 am – 4:00 pm with overtime opportunities.
