Quality Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

The Quality Engineer will support the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the Project Quality Management System (QMS) for construction activities. Working closely with project teams, subcontractors and clients, the role ensures compliance with company standards, client requirements, legislation and Australian Standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Project QMS in line with company procedures and ISO 9001.
• Develop and apply Project Quality Management Plans.
• Prepare, review and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Coordinate inspections, witness points and testing activities.
• Verify that construction works follow approved drawings, specifications, contracts and relevant Australian Standards.
• Review subcontractor quality documentation and inspection records.
• Maintain accurate quality records, registers and documentation.
• Raise, investigate and close out Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
• Conduct internal quality audits and support client/third‑party audits.
• Monitor compliance with quality procedures, contractual obligations and legislative requirements.
• Identify quality risks and recommend process improvements.
• Analyse quality performance data and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors on quality matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience as a Quality Engineer or similar role in construction, infrastructure or engineering.
• Experience implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems on major infrastructure or commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of quality management principles and continuous improvement practices.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
