Purchasing Officer

About the role

Barminco, part of the Perenti Group, is looking for an organised and proactive Purchasing Officer to join its Supply team at the Hazelmere head office in Perth. This is an 8-month fixed-term contract reporting to the Purchasing Supervisor, supporting operational success by procuring and expediting goods and services so that parts and materials arrive on time and purchase orders are completed accurately.

Key responsibilities

• Procure goods and services in line with company policies, procedures and procurement schedules.
• Expedite purchase orders and follow up outstanding deliveries, credits and supplier queries.
• Ensure orders are receipted accurately and ready for invoice matching and processing.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal customers, and review supplier performance to find cost savings and better service.
• Help users with procurement system enquiries, parts catalogues and purchase orders, and support resolution of purchase order discrepancies.
• Apply the right approvals and coding allocations to purchases, check warehouse stock before placing external orders, and report supplier performance, warranty and delivery issues to the Contracts Team.
• Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality requirements and contribute to continuous improvement in the Supply function.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years' experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain or administration.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and good verbal and written communication.
• Sound understanding of procurement and supply chain processes; experience with Pronto ERP for purchasing, inventory and costing is highly regarded.
• Class C driver's licence; TEE, TAFE or equivalent qualification; a Certificate or Diploma in Procurement and Supply, or CIPS/APICS membership, is desirable.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Pronto ERP (highly regarded).
