About the role
BAE Systems is seeking a Purchasing Officer to support its defence and aerospace programmes. This 12‑month fixed‑term role involves managing high‑volume procurement activities, ensuring that suppliers meet cost, schedule, quality and safety targets.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse production requirements and RFQ demand in a high‑volume environment.
- Raise, process and issue large numbers of purchase orders.
- Monitor purchase order status from creation through delivery and invoice payment.
- Develop and maintain productive supplier relationships to improve responsiveness.
- Proactively manage supplier performance against schedule, cost and quality KPIs.
- Administer purchase orders in line with established procedures and Delegations of Authority.
Required profile
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field (desirable).
- Defence industry experience and knowledge of sub‑contracts in fabrication (highly regarded).
- Strong stakeholder management and commitment delivery skills.
- Eligibility for defence security clearance and ITAR compliance.
Required skills
- Experience with Aveva.
- Experience with Oracle procurement systems.
