Purchasing Officer – FMCG

About the role

Exciting opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Officer to join a busy, collaborative Supply Chain team in Western Sydney. Reporting to the Sourcing Manager, you will manage the end‑to‑end purchasing process across a domestic supplier network, ensuring inventory levels, accurate purchase orders, and on‑time delivery to support business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase requisitions and orders within an ERP system.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels to minimise shortages and maximise turns.
• Build and manage strong relationships with domestic suppliers, monitoring performance.
• Expedite orders, coordinate deliveries and manage supply risks.
• Monitor supplier lead times, production schedules and communicate updates to internal stakeholders.
• Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues, maintaining corrective action records.
• Review purchase order and invoice discrepancies and manage variations.
• Source pricing for new products and support supplier negotiations.
• Maintain accurate product and purchasing data in company systems.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and annual stocktakes.
• Assist with training new team members and provide coverage during leave periods.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years’ experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain within a fast‑paced B2B environment.
• Proven experience managing supplier relationships and resolving supply issues.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with the capacity to prioritise competing demands.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Proficiency with ERP purchasing systems.
