Public Area Cleaner

About the role

As a Public Area Cleaner at BreakFree Great Sandy Straits, you will be a key member of the Maintenance team, ensuring that all shared indoor and outdoor spaces – from gardens and pools to walkways and public facilities – are kept immaculate and welcoming for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the appearance of the property’s gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas throughout the year.
• Clean and present public indoor areas, pools, and extensive grounds to high standards.
• Operate specialised cleaning equipment and handle chemicals safely.
• Use hand and power tools for mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, and minor repairs.
• Drive a small tractor to move waste bins for daily collection.
• Assist guests with enquiries and collaborate with other departments to resolve issues.
• Report maintenance problems, damaged equipment, or missing items promptly.

Required profile

• Previous experience maintaining gardens, lawns, and shrubs.
• Warm, welcoming communication style with guests and team members.
• Strong attention to detail and efficient time management.
• Ability to work independently and plan tasks around weather conditions.
• Physical fitness for outdoor work and reliable transportation.
• Availability for varied shifts, including weekends and public holidays, often starting at 6 am.
