Prosecutor – Workers' Compensation

About the role
The Office of Industrial Relations (OIR) is seeking a motivated Prosecutor to join the Workers' Compensation Investigations and Prosecution Services (WCIPS) team. You will deliver high‑quality prosecution services that protect the integrity of Queensland’s workers' compensation system and support safer, fairer workplaces.
Key responsibilities
- Assess briefs of evidence and provide legal advice to investigators and stakeholders.
- Prepare matters for sentencing, hearings and trial, including drafting legal documents.
- Appear in court as a prosecutor and, where appropriate, instruct external counsel on complex matters.
- Liaise with courts, investigators, defence representatives, witnesses and other parties.
- Provide timely advice on prosecution outcomes and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.
Required profile
- Admitted, or eligible for admission, as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court of Queensland.
- Ability to critically analyse evidence and apply legislation to provide sound legal advice.
- Strong advocacy and communication abilities.
- Proven ability to produce accurate, high‑quality legal documents.
- Experience building positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Enjoys collaborative work in a professional team environment.
