Projects Cost Controller

About the role

The Projects Cost Controller supports the Cost Control Team by ensuring accurate costing for inventory and overheads across multiple South American projects. You will work closely with senior cost controllers, project engineers, and managers to maintain budget integrity and provide timely financial insights.

Key responsibilities

• Assist lead and senior cost controllers on several projects, reviewing material requisitions for budget alignment.
• Help project engineers and managers set up budgets and forecasts, allocating appropriate cost codes in the ERP system.
• Maintain and update project cost forecasts in Excel, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
• Review monthly site cost reports, resolve coding issues, and distribute site-wide costs via ERP journal entries.
• Monitor actual costs versus approved budgets, identify trends, and flag potential overruns for escalation.
• Utilise PowerBI reports for month‑end cost analysis and variance explanations.
• Coordinate with suppliers, procurement, finance, and site teams to resolve cost discrepancies.
• Track purchase order variations and record cost impacts in project forecasts.
• Maintain documentation for audits and internal reviews, and propose improvements to approval workflows.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
• Experience in cost control or financial reporting within project environments.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for budgeting and forecasting.
• Proficiency with ERP systems for cost coding and journal entries.
• Experience using PowerBI for financial reporting and analysis.
