Project Schedule Manager

About the role

The Senior Project Schedule Manager will lead the development and maintenance of project schedules and controls for a defence‑focused portfolio in Melbourne. You will work closely with project stakeholders to ensure schedules are accurate, aligned with client expectations, and support effective decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using OpenPlan Professional and other scheduling tools.
• Create work breakdown structures (WBS) and WBS dictionaries, coordinating with client finance to align with Chart of Accounts protocols.
• Support project managers with portfolio‑level schedule consistency, risk register development, and resource allocation visibility.
• Implement and standardise project controls procedures, including Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting.
• Establish cost performance reporting, assist with proposal cost build‑up, and support transition from proposal to project execution.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Accounting or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years experience in scheduling or project controls within a defence environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Baseline or higher).
• Experience planning and implementing project controls procedures, preferably with exposure to EVM.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with OpenPlan Professional or similar scheduling software.
• Strong knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts.
• Competence in accounting and spreadsheet packages (e.g., Excel).
• Experience using project reporting tools and portfolio accounting systems.
