Project Geologist - Operations (Open Pit & Underground)

About the role

Northern Star Resources is looking for experienced Project Geologists to join its KCGM Operations in Kalgoorlie, in either the open pit or underground environment. Positions are available at the KCGM Super Pit, Mt Charlotte Underground and Fimiston Underground. Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the role follows an 8:6 roster of 11-hour days. Relocation packages are available for those willing to move to the Goldfields region.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and interpret drilling programs, coordinate their design, scheduling and oversight so that timely and accurate data is provided for analysis, and liaise with many stakeholders.
• Support grade control model updates, improve confidence in orebody definition and identify opportunities that support production performance, resource conversion and Life of Mine outcomes.
• Train and mentor Graduate Geologists, Mine Geologists and geology technicians.
• Supervise drill contractors and enforce environmental, safety and security measures.
• Oversee the analysis, interpretation and modelling of geological data and contribute to mine planning reviews.
• Assist with mine planning, including drill scheduling and development and stope designs.
• Ensure quarterly and six-monthly resource versus reserve reconciliation reports are completed.

Required profile

• Minimum three years' geology experience in a mining environment, preferably in a gold mine.
• Experience in drill rig management.
• Exposure to geological modelling and wireframing.
• Tertiary qualification in Geology (minimum degree).
• Current unencumbered Western Australian "C" class driver's licence.
• Time management and organisational skills, able to work independently.
