Project Engineer

About the role

Join Kraft Heinz’s Northgate manufacturing site as a Project Engineer, leading mechanical projects that improve equipment performance, reduce costs and enhance safety in a fast‑moving FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver site engineering projects, partnering with functional departments to meet site priorities.
• Scope, design and implement mechanical projects that improve reliability, deliver cost savings and reduce health, safety and food‑safety risks.
• Prepare and manage all financial aspects of allocated projects, including budgets and risk management.
• Develop project governance documentation and communicate requirements to diverse stakeholders throughout the lifecycle.
• Support procurement negotiations and ensure compliance with OH&S and food‑safety policies.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering (degree/diploma or equivalent).
• Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering outcomes in an industrial manufacturing plant, preferably FMCG.
• Ability to lead mechanical projects end‑to‑end, from scope and design through to handover.
• Working knowledge of Australian Standards for mechanical installations, pressure equipment and workplace safety.
• Eligibility to work in Australia with full working rights.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with plant and utilities projects such as pumps, piping, valves, conveyors and related services.
• Strong capability in machine safety, hazard identification and implementation of engineered controls.
• Experience in installation oversight, inspection, testing, commissioning and contractor coordination.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and familiarity with CAD tools.
