Principal Consultant - Strategy, Transformation & Reporting

About the role

The Principal Consultant joins Anthesis’ Strategy, Transformation & Reporting (STaR) team in Australia, leading high‑impact sustainability projects for clients across the region. This senior, client‑facing position combines project delivery, technical oversight, and business development to advance ESG strategy and reporting practices.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of sustainability consulting engagements, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
• Provide senior‑level technical oversight and quality assurance on reporting deliverables and ESG strategy outputs.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, acting as a senior advisor on governance, performance, and reporting.
• Draft, review, and present reports, presentations, and workshops aligned with project scope.
• Develop proposals for mandatory and voluntary sustainability reporting, materiality assessments, human‑rights, and related ESG topics.
• Support opportunity conversion through client engagement, pitch delivery, and senior technical input.
• Contribute to the evolution of STaR service offerings, tools, and internal capability‑building materials.
• Mentor senior and junior consultants, overseeing performance management and career development.

Required profile

• Degree or relevant qualification in sustainability, finance, risk management, corporate governance, or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in sustainability advisory, including double materiality assessments, strategy setting, and ESG reporting.
• Proven ability to manage complex client projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong business development acumen and experience shaping service offerings.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks such as GRI, SASB, and TCFD.
