Practice Lead – Contaminated Land Department

About the role

The Practice Lead will head the Brisbane Contaminated Land team, overseeing more than 20 professionals. Reporting to the General Manager for Contaminated Land and Water, you will drive strategic and operational performance while fostering a high‑performing culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the strategic and operational performance of the Brisbane Contaminated Land team.
• Drive financial outcomes including revenue, utilisation, profitability and workforce planning.
• Develop and mentor Team Leaders and senior technical staff.
• Strengthen client relationships and support business growth through market engagement and business development.
• Maintain excellence in technical delivery, quality assurance and HSE performance.
• Contribute to innovation, continuous improvement and growth of the Contaminated Land practice.
• Prepare annual hiring plans, assist with HR matters and nurture a culture of collaboration.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or related field.
• 15+ years experience in contaminated land and water within an environmental consultancy.
• Proven experience leading and managing teams of 10+ employees.
• Solid understanding of Queensland and national environmental frameworks.
• Industry certification (CEnvP or CPSS) or willingness to obtain it.

• Contaminated land assessment and remediation.
• Water quality and risk assessment.
• Application of Queensland and Australian environmental legislation.
• Use of industry certification standards such as CEnvP and CPSS.
