Power Systems Engineer – Team Leader

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a seasoned Power Systems Engineer to lead a high‑performing team within its Queensland Energy division. You will guide specialists in connecting renewable generation, storage and hybrid projects to the National Electricity Market, delivering sustainable and reliable energy solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a diverse team of power‑systems specialists.
• Provide trusted grid advisory services, including connection strategy, performance standards and system strength assessments.
• Oversee power‑system modelling using industry‑standard tools such as PSS®E, PSCAD and PowerFactory.
• Collaborate with engineering, commercial, digital, advisory and environmental teams to co‑create integrated solutions.
• Champion continuous improvement, refine modelling approaches and foster a learning culture.
• Support business development through authentic relationship‑building and inclusive practices.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in power systems, grid connection, consulting, utilities, development or operations.
• Demonstrated leadership style that is collaborative, inclusive and client‑focused.
• Relevant electrical engineering qualifications and RPEQ registration (or willingness to obtain).
