Portfolio Manager – Private Equity

About the role

Australian Retirement Trust (ART) is seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager – Private Equity to shape and manage a high‑impact private equity portfolio across Australian and global markets. The role sits within the Growth Assets team and focuses on portfolio construction, investment research, manager selection and ongoing fund and co‑investment management.

Key responsibilities

• Help define and execute ART’s private equity investment strategy in domestic and international markets.
• Lead investment research, due diligence and analysis of private equity opportunities, including fund and co‑investment assessments.
• Monitor portfolio performance, valuations, risk exposures and emerging opportunities.
• Prepare and present investment recommendations and performance reports to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
• Negotiate commercial terms, review legal documentation and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, investment managers and industry partners.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, investments, commerce, economics or related discipline.
• More than 10 years of experience in private equity or a closely related investment environment.
• Strong experience managing complex, high‑value investment portfolios.
• Advanced analytical, research and due‑diligence capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to assess investment risk and return across private‑market opportunities.
