Platform Engineering Lead

About the role

Finstro is seeking a hands‑on Platform Engineering Lead to own the design, security, reliability and day‑to‑day operation of its AWS platform and the developer experience built on top of it. You will set standards, write Terraform, fix pipelines, tune alerts and lead incidents while helping the wider engineering team ship safely and quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture, build and operation of the AWS platform, including compute, networking, data stores, identity and deployment environments.
• Define and enforce security and compliance controls in partnership with Security and Risk teams.
• Document, automate and scale engineering standards for building, deploying, running and securing services.
• Manage cloud spend, cost visibility and forecasting as a core engineering concern.

Required profile

• Deep, current, hands‑on AWS engineering experience with a pragmatic, build‑or‑buy mindset.
• Comfortable owning production in a small organisation, diagnosing under pressure and fixing root causes.
• Credible technical leader who mentors through example and removes toil for other engineers.

Required skills

• AWS services: Lambda, ECS, EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, DynamoDB, IAM, AWS Organizations.
• Infrastructure‑as‑code expertise, preferably Terraform (module design, state management, drift detection).
• CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) and safe release strategies (blue/green, canary, rollback).
• Security‑focused engineering: least‑privilege IAM, secrets management, patching, vulnerability remediation.
