Platform Engineer

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking a Platform Engineer to design, build and support secure, reliable and scalable cloud and hybrid platforms that underpin mission‑critical applications. You will work closely with developers, architects, cybersecurity specialists and business stakeholders to deliver continuous improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and support cloud and hybrid platforms providing a secure, resilient foundation for business‑critical applications.
• Drive automation through Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, scripting and deployment tooling to improve operational efficiency.
• Enhance platform reliability, performance and security by implementing monitoring, observability, vulnerability remediation and lifecycle management.
• Partner with developers, architects, cybersecurity specialists and infrastructure teams to simplify deployment processes and continuously improve platform capabilities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in platform engineering, DevOps, cloud engineering or related disciplines.
• Hands‑on experience with public cloud and hybrid environments such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify root causes.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Public cloud platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud.
• Infrastructure as Code and automation tools: Terraform, Ansible, Helm, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Azure DevOps, Jenkins.
• Scripting languages: Python, PowerShell, Bash.
• Containerisation and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Monitoring and observability tools: Elastic, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog.
• Version control: Git.
• Security fundamentals: identity and access management, secrets management, compliance.
