Platform Engineer - Infrastructure & DevOps

About the role

An experienced Infrastructure / Systems Engineer is sought to support and improve a complex IT and OT infrastructure environment, with a strong focus on automation, scripting, monitoring and DevOps practices. This is a hands-on role focused on improving how infrastructure is managed through scripts, playbooks, automation, monitoring and Infrastructure as Code.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve automation scripts and playbooks for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, standard changes and operational compliance.
• Support and enhance automation and DevOps tooling, including Git, Ansible, Terraform, Puppet and scripting frameworks.
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and dashboards across servers, virtualisation, storage, backup and core data centre services.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks and operational documentation covering automation, change execution, pipeline usage and rollback procedures.
• Perform day-to-day hosting infrastructure activities such as provisioning, maintenance, changes and operational support, using automation wherever possible.
• Support incident and problem management, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, root cause analysis and post-incident reviews.

Required profile

• Strong infrastructure engineering background with an interest or proven capability in automation and DevOps.
• Hands-on experience with scripting, automation and configuration management.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability.
• Understanding of incident, problem, change and release management practices.
• Desirable: experience in OT, ICS or industrial environments, and understanding of their security, availability and operational requirements.

• Windows and Linux server environments.
• Virtualisation, storage, backup and monitoring technologies.
• Complex data centre or enterprise infrastructure support.
• One or more of Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, PowerShell or Python.
• Git, automation workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Desirable: cloud infrastructure and Infrastructure as Code.
