Planning and Controls Manager

About the role

CPB Contractors is seeking an experienced Controls & Planning Manager to lead project planning, scheduling and performance across major construction projects. You will work closely with project and leadership teams to develop and maintain schedules, drive planning excellence and support on‑time, on‑budget delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure projects are designed and planned to maximise efficiency and minimise construction cost.
• Lead a professional planning team to high performance in establishing and managing project planning systems.
• Keep project schedules up to date with actual as‑built data and liaise closely with construction teams.
• Manage the needs of construction and tender teams to ensure budget delivery.
• Review planning processes regularly and audit live projects for compliance and realistic objectives.
• Assist senior leadership with impact reviews, scenario testing, scheduling analysis and propose solutions to competing programme demands.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience managing complex, high‑value rail and civil construction projects (Tier 1 or Tier 2).
• Strong systems focus with extensive planning experience using Primavera software.
• Proven ability to lead collaborative development and management of complex programmes.
• Outstanding communication and leadership skills with experience leading teams.
• Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
