People & Culture Advisor

About the role

Murdoch Children's Research Institute is looking for a People & Culture Advisor to support employees and people leaders across the full employee lifecycle, within the Population Health and Infection, Immunity and Global Health Themes. The role balances day-to-day advice with hands-on coordination of people processes, and sits in the People & Culture Business Partnering team, reporting to the Senior People Partner.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted first point of contact for employee and people leader queries.
• Advise and coach people leaders on employee relations matters such as underperformance and conduct, escalating complex cases to the Senior People Partner.
• Provide practical advice on policies, performance and employment conditions.
• Manage key employment processes, including contracts, variations and offboarding.
• Monitor compliance across contracts, visas, probation and other required employee checks.
• Collaborate with the wider People & Culture team to deliver tailored people solutions.

Required profile

• 2-3 years' experience in an HR or People & Culture role.
• Solid understanding of the Fair Work Act, Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
• Strong written and communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to handle confidential information with maturity and common sense.
• Confidence in building relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
