People Advisor – Aged Care Community

About the role

Palm Lake Care, a family-owned provider of residential, respite and palliative care across seven communities in Queensland, is growing its People & Culture team. It is looking for a People Advisor to be based at the Bethania community, working closely with the People Business Partner to support staff and leaders in solving people problems in real time, from award interpretation to day-to-day employee support.

The role sits within one of three specialist portfolios: Talent, Industrial Relations & Safety, or Performance & Engagement, so you can build deep expertise while staying connected to the operational side of aged care.

Key responsibilities

• Be the trusted, on-the-ground people contact for leaders and staff at the Bethania community
• Give practical, timely advice on employment conditions under the Aged Care Award 2010 and Nurses Award 2020
• Support the People Business Partner with recruitment, onboarding, performance and employee relations matters
• Help managers handle day-to-day people issues with confidence and consistency
• Contribute to a modern People & Culture function focused on better data and better support for people

Required profile

• Experience in a generalist HR, ER or people support role; aged care or health experience is highly regarded but not essential
• Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act and modern awards, or a genuine appetite to learn them quickly
• A relationship-first approach, preferring on-site problem solving to ticket queues
• Enjoys variety, works with sound judgement and treats every conversation with care
