Payroll Compliance & Project Specialist (Fixed Term)

About the role

Metcash is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Compliance & Project Specialist to join its Payroll team on a 12-month fixed-term contract in Huntingwood, NSW. The role suits someone with strong payroll systems experience who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure payroll accuracy, compliance and integrity, supporting audits, reconciliations, compliance initiatives and system projects while partnering with stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Support payroll compliance activities and help investigate and resolve payroll-related matters
• Carry out payroll audits, data analysis and reconciliations
• Reconcile leave balances across payroll and HR systems
• Support end-of-year payroll reconciliations and reporting
• Assist with payroll projects, system reviews, testing and process improvements
• Support Enterprise Agreement backpay calculations and reviews
• Help with payroll work linked to acquisitions and business integration projects
• Maintain and update payroll procedures and documentation
• Investigate payroll queries and build relationships across Payroll, P&C and the wider business

Required profile

• Previous experience in payroll, payroll compliance, audit, reconciliation or payroll project support
• Strong reconciliation, reporting and data analysis capability
• Attention to detail and accuracy, with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Required skills

• Chris21 (essential)
• Kronos or other time and attendance systems (highly regarded)
• Strong Excel skills with payroll data
