Parking Officer – Townsville

About the role

The Townsville City Council is seeking a Parking Officer to deliver effective parking and compliance services across the city, particularly in the CBD and surrounding areas. You will enforce parking regulations, manage abandoned vehicles, and support compliance in campgrounds while providing courteous service to the community.

Key responsibilities

• Enforce parking regulations fairly and consistently across Townsville.
• Investigate and manage abandoned or illegally parked vehicles.
• Provide parking compliance support for major events and campgrounds.
• Respond promptly to service requests and customer enquiries, offering practical advice.
• Maintain accurate records and data entry of enforcement activities.
• Collaborate with other regulatory teams to drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development.

Required profile

• Experience in regulatory or enforcement roles.
• Knowledge of parking regulations and relevant legislation.
• Strong investigation and evidence‑gathering abilities.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
• Effective communication skills, including handling difficult interactions.
• Current unrestricted Queensland “C” class driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Intermediate computer skills.
• Accurate data entry.

• Permanent full‑time position (9‑day fortnight, 36.25 hrs/week).
• Salary range $78,412 – $84,646 per annum plus superannuation.
