Operations Supervisor - Mareeba

About the role

Tonkin Steel, a brand of InfraBuild supplying steel products across North Queensland, is looking for an Operations Supervisor to report to the Branch Manager and work from its Mareeba site. You will take ownership of day-to-day operations across the Mareeba and Atherton centres, coordinating customer orders so they are loaded and delivered safely, leading a small team and working closely with customers and sales teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate daily dispatch and delivery so orders are prepared, loaded and delivered safely and on time.
• Supervise, coach and support the dispatch and delivery team, promoting a safety-first, customer-focused culture.
• Coordinate transport requirements, delivery schedules and driver/vehicle availability.
• Work with sales, customers, transport providers and other branches to manage deliveries, resolve issues and keep customers informed.
• Oversee administration, documentation, inventory movements and operational reporting.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in logistics, dispatch, transport, warehousing or a similar fast-paced operational environment; experience in manufacturing, steel or building products is highly regarded.
• Previous people leadership or supervisory experience, able to lead, coach and support a team hands-on.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with customers, drivers, transport providers and sales teams.
• Current forklift licence and current driver's licence are essential; a truck licence is not required but a higher-class licence may be supported.

Required skills

• Strong computer literacy and administration skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and/or ERP, transport or logistics systems.
