Neurosurgery Technician

About the role

St John of God Subiaco Hospital is expanding its four‑theatre neuro‑surgical suite and seeks experienced Neurosurgery Technicians. You will support navigation, imaging and robotic systems, coordinate instruments and equipment, and ensure patient‑centred care throughout procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare and troubleshoot specialised surgical equipment, navigation, imaging and robotic systems for scheduled and emergency procedures.
• Act as the technical champion for navigation and imaging systems, providing expert support to surgeons and theatre teams.
• Ensure correct patient positioning, theatre set‑up, equipment availability and post‑procedure checks, including documentation and tray reconciliation.
• Manage surgical equipment and implant logistics – ordering, maintenance, loan sets, supplier liaison and cost‑effective stock control.
• Communicate risks, workflow changes and equipment issues to theatre leadership and assist with theatre readiness and patient transfers.

Required profile

• Experienced peri‑operative professional with technical theatre support background in an acute hospital.
• Passionate about learning, professional growth and championing innovations in surgical navigation and imaging.
• Strong appreciation for quality improvement, safe best‑practice care and patient safety.
• Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills; able to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
